MIURA Keiji
計算論的神経科学の1つの目標は、「マインド・リーディング」ができる程に、電気信号を解読することである。例えば、機械学習を用いて、計測した神経細胞の電気活動から、ラットが嗅いでいる匂いを当てることが可能である。ここで、電気パルスの頻度だけではなくタイミングも重要であると「仮説」することで、より精度良く解読できる。このように、仮説を通して脳における情報表現の理解を深めることができるのである。さらに近年は、匂いなどの感覚にとどまらず、「やる気」「価値」等のより複雑な脳機能も解読されるようになってきたが、この場合には、仮説や理論モデルの果たす役割がさらに大きくなる。
ドライラボでは、ビッグデータから情報を掘り出すアイデアが鍵となる。パッケージソフトを使うだけであれば決して難しくないし、卒業研究を通じてデータサイエンスのスキルを身につければ、ビジネス等のデータ分析でもきっと役立つはずである。
