近代国家形成のありようと、その下での「国民」についての法的定義のあり方への関心に基づいて、イギリスにおける国籍法の歴史について検討している。併せて、植民地を保有する帝国としての独特の国制のあり方が、イギリス憲法に関わる諸制度に及ぼした影響について、関心をもっている。
