国境を越えた政治と経済の相互作用を扱う国際政治経済学と、国際制度（国際的なルール、国際組織など）を扱う国際制度論が私の専門です。現在特に関心があるのは、貿易と国際投資が自由化された「開放的国際経済体制」の安定性です。開放的な国際経済体制は一方では私たちの生活を支えていますが、他方では様々な理由で人々の不満をかき立て、いわゆる「反グローバリズム」を生み出してもいます。そのため、（１）貿易・国際投資が人々にどのような影響を与え、各国国内で開放的国際経済体制への賛否がどのように生じるのか、（２）特に反対が強くなった時に、国際制度は開放的国際経済体制の不安定化を防げるのか、といった関心に基づいて研究を行っています。（１）については、自由な貿易や国際投資に対する先進国の国内主体（一般市民、利益団体、立法府、行政府など）の賛否を事例分析や統計分析で明らかにすることに取り組んでいます。（２）については、経済グローバル化への不満が特に高まりやすい国際金融危機について、国際制度であるIMF（International Monetary Fund）の存在がどのように開放的経済体制の安定に寄与しているか（していないか）を研究しています。
