Teaching and Research Fields
As the director of the English Language Program (ELP), my ongoing interests include program evaluation, program management, and course and program level needs analysis. Additionally, I am involved in longitudinal research investigating changes in learner affective variables, such as motivation and selfconfidence, over time. I have been involved with various materials development projects, most notably co-authoring a textbook series designed to build English reading skills, fluency, and vocabulary knowledge, as well as promote extensive reading. I am also interested in the content-based instruction of sociolinguistics as a means of developing learners’meta-linguistic awareness and pragmatic competence.
