微生物は多種多様な機能を持つ生体分子を生産します。これらの分子は、微生物が地球上のあらゆる環境へと適応するのに役立つばかりでなく、我々の生活にも大いに活用されています。私は、分子の構造や特性を反映する振動スペクトルや発光スペクトルを用いて、微生物細胞の機能評価や新たな生体分子の探索へと役立てることを目指しています。
