新しい分子性酸化物の合成とその溶液内での挙動の解明をテーマに研究を行っている。基礎的データの集積を基盤とした、合理的・系統的な酸化物の合成を確立し、究極的には酸化物の化学の全貌と明らかにする事を目的としている。新しい分野の開拓には新しい分析手法の開発が不可欠であるが、その様な手法、特に溶液中の分子の平衡、構造、及びダイナミクスの解析法の開発にも力を注いでいる。
