新しい光学計測装置やデータ解析技術を開発し、生命現象を生きた生命体の中でリアルタイムに観測し、そのメカニズムを探ることが私の研究室の研究目的です。新しい技術により、これまで見えなかったものが見えるようになり、新しい研究分野が開けます。細胞の変化を生きたまま追跡する技術、体内に挿入して生体組織の分子組成を直接的に計測できる極細径ラマンプローブの開発に成功しています。これらの技術を利用し、幹細胞の分化制御技術や、体内深部で発見された癌の確定診断、薬剤治療効果のリアルタイム診断技術、新しい脳機能計測技術等への応用研究も進めています。基礎研究だけでなく、企業の実用化まで幅広く研究を進め、生命科学、医学とエンジニアリングの複合領域の発展に貢献することを目指しています。
