Teaching and Research Fields
ヘブライ語聖書（旧約聖書）は、ユダヤ教やキリスト教においては経典であり、それらの信仰をもつ人々にとっては「聖なる書物」です。しかし、実際に読んでみると、大部分は物語として書かれているか、物語の中に律法や「神の言葉」がはめ込まれている形になっています。そこで、ヘブライ語聖書を読む際には、物語として読むと、その魅力を最もよく味わえると考えています。 ▼「物語として読む」ということは、プロットやその伏線、登場人物の描かれ方に注目しながら読むということです。また、言葉の配置や言い回しを大切に考えます。こうして、ヘブライ語聖書が元来もっていた「面白さ」を再発見しようとしています。 ▼その上で、この古代の物語が現代を生きる私たちにとってもっている意義についても考えたいと願っています。というのも、ヘブライ語聖書はユダヤ教やキリスト教の「聖なる書物」であるだけでなく、古典として人間の生き方に大きな影響を与えてきたし、今も与え続けていると考えるからです。
