20世紀フランスの小説と戯曲、とくにアルベール・カミュの作品を研究している。カミュはよく「実存主義作家」としてサルトルとならび称されるが、『異邦人』『ペスト』『転落』などの小説は、その思想性よりむしろたぐいまれな文体や感性に魅力があると考えられる。そこで私は「幸福の追求」というきわめて人間的な観点からカミュの作品を再検討するとともに、精神分析理論を応用して彼の中心テーマである「母と子の関係」を解明したく思う。
