My background is in conflict resolution and also human rights. In my experiences as a language instructor I have come to see the importance of focused academic preparation. In particular, English for Academic Purposes (EAP) has much to offer as a multidisciplinary language framework to support content and integrated language learning. I have been examining and researching context-specific cultural variations in learning : in order to understand how EAP will develop in different geographical locations. Furthermore, through this research I have begun to understand that an awareness of critical theories and pedagogies has much to offer this area of research.
