「解放」をキーワードに、新約聖書とアメリカ宗教・思想を研究しています。新約聖書学の分野では、ルカ文書(１人の著者ルカによって書かれたルカによる福音書・使徒言行録)に登場する被差別の社会集団(例: 貧者・罪人・皮膚病者・サマリア人・外国人)が1世紀ユダヤ社会でどのように見られていたか、そしてキリスト者の群れがこの被差別者たちをどのように受け入れたかを研究しています。
　アメリカ宗教・思想研究の分野では、アフリカンアメリカンの解放思想を研究しています。アレクサンダー・クランメル、フレデリック・ダグラス、W.E.B.デュボイス、マーティン・ルーサー・キングJr.、マルコムXが提起した解放理論について研究しています。
