宣教学の展開と社会調査との関連を視野に、D・ボンヘッファーの実践と神学を手がかりの一つとして実践神学研究を進める。基本的な文献研究の積み重ねに加えて、現場や人との出会いを通した学び、フィールドワークを通じた調査や経験を重視する。宣教学の基本的な主題であるインカルチュレーションと日本のキリスト教美術との関わりにも研究上の関心を持つ。
