視覚芸術・ニューカレドニア日本人移民史・オーストラリア民間抑留
Teaching and Research Fields
研究テーマは、歴史的な事象を視覚芸術メディア（写真、映像など）をつかって視覚化すること。国よる言語の違いを超えた表現をめざしている。特に2003年より、戦前の仏領ニューカレドニアの日本人移民史とそれに関連するオーストラリアの民間抑留史をテーマに、日本人の戦時体験を視覚化した、展覧会を中心とした文化イベントを国内外で企画している。フィールドワークは、おもに太平洋地域と日本で行い、聞き取りと現地調査にもとづく写真、映像作品の制作、著述を行っている。また、ニューカレドニアの日系人社会と協同で、あらたな歴史を発掘する活動、遺構調査や、遺族さがしなどにとりくんでいる。
