私はジェンダーの視点から高齢者福祉領域におけるケア労働の問題に注目し、研究しています。介護保険制度施行以降、ケア労働の分野には男性の参入が進み、近年では「介護男子」にも注目が集まっていますが、未だにケア労働者の8割は女性が占めています。伝統的にケアを女性の役割と固定化するジェンダーバイアスによって、介護はフォーマルにもインフォーマルにも女性が担う労働とされてきました。結果的にはそのために、非正規雇用や低賃金が許容され、高い離職率が維持されてきたという側面があります。高齢者によりよい支援を提供するためには、支援者自身が労働者として充実した就労を継続できることが必要です。そのため、ケア労働者について、職務満足度を高め、燃えつきや離職を防止するためにはどのような職場組織を作ることが必要か、どのようなソーシャルサポートが効果をもつかを明らかにするために、これまで多くのケアワーカーを対象としたアンケート調査やインタビュー調査を行ってきました。また、実際に、研究の成果をもとに、ケアワーカーやソーシャルワーカーを対象とした燃えつき予防研修などの支援者支援の取り組みも実施してきました。今後もこのような研究から得られた知見をもとに現場実践や教育に活かしていきたいと考えています。
