専攻は英語史です。特に中英語(1100-1500年)の語彙研究、なかでもフレーズの研究（phraseology）を行っています。その際、文体・ジャンルとの関わりに注目して研究を行います。特に、time and tideのような A and B 形式の binomialsと呼ばれるフレーズの研究を主に行ってきました。このようなフレーズは中世には頻繁に利用されましたが、ジャンルにより頻度や使用される語源構成が異なることを明らかにしてきました。その他の定型表現や合成述語(composite predicates)誓言や誓言にも興味があります。研究の際には、電子テキストの集積であるコーパスも利用します。
　語彙以外では、マザーグースの言語と英語辞書の歴史にも興味があり、研究を行っています。
　2018年からは科学研究費により、13世紀のAncrene Wisse（『隠遁修道女の手引き』）の英語版とフランス語版のパラレルテキストの作成と語彙比較研究を行っています。
