私の研究分野は、財政学という分野です。財政学は、政府の役割や政策について分析・議論する学問です。現在は、中央政府による地方間財政移転が、地方政府の政策決定に与える影響に着目し、研究を行っています。中央政府からの事後的な財政移転が存在するとき、地方政府がその財政移転を期待することで、地方政府の政策が非効率的なものとなることが知られています。しかし、財政移転は、地域間の格差を是正することや、地方の事業を補助するなど重要な役割を担っています。こうした背景から、財政移転について理論的に分析し、様々な観点から、財政移転が地方の政策に与える効果を考察することが、私の研究テーマになります。　また、租税競争などの地域間競争の分析にも関心があります。
