Teaching and Research Fields
生態学をベースに、「ヒトと自然が共生する社会の実現」を目指す研究をしています。具体的には、野外フィールド調査、地理情報システム（GIS）、リモートセンシング、統計モデルなど様々な手法を用いて生き物の分布や行動、自然環境を観測し、生き物同士のつながりの解明に取り組んでいます。研究から得た知見、例えば希少種の個体数や生息環境の利用状況を生息地の管理者と共有し生息環境の保全や創出につなげることが目標です。近年はロボット聴覚技術やAI技術を使い、視覚による観測が難しいフクロウなど夜行性希少種の子育てやヒナの巣立ちの音声観測、なわばりの視覚化などに携わっています。また、これらの研究成果の社会実装と並行して、希少種の生息が生息地域に還元されるための仕組みづくりや地域との連携、生物多様性の大切さの伝え方の検討、環境教育の担い手育成にも取り組んでいます。
