研究分野は主に、中央地方関係と、地域における政治と経済である。前者においては、中央政府と地方政府との相互作用のなかで、いかなる公共政策がどのようにして形成され、実施されているかを研究する。後者においては、都市であると農村であるとをとわず、地域の経済を政治との関係で理解する。いずれにせよ、日本の政治行政、そして経済の「現場」を比較の観点から、さらに歴史的視点を通して研究することをめざす。
