Yasunaka Hashimoto specializes in 19th-century American literature, including Herman Melville and Nathaniel Hawthorne. He reads novels carefully and tranquilly, examining the themes of faith and family in the modern era. He is also working on translations of contemporary American literature and critiques of contemporary Japanese literature.
