イギリス小説・文化研究が専門領域ですが、英国留学時より「ライフ・ライティング（Life-writing）」という大きな枠組みを常に意識しながら研究を進めてきました。自伝や伝記だけではなく、書簡や日記、肖像画や写真、そして建築物や庭さえも「ライフ・ライティング」であると捉えています。また、主たる研究対象としてきたヴァージニア・ウルフは、「人生とは何か」を飽くことなく問い続け、「人生」を視覚的な状況や形状で表現しようとした作家でした。作家や芸術家たちが描く様々な「人生のかたち」の検証も大きな関心事となっています。さらに、個人が蒐集した絵画などのコレクションも「ライフ・ライティング」であると考えており、「美術館」についての考察にも取り組んでいます。
