固体が示すダイナミクスを研究している。特に、超高速(サブピコ秒: 一兆分の一秒未満)かつ巨大(伝導性/誘電性/磁性の変化)な応答をしばしば示す強相関電子物質に興味を持ち、テラヘルツ光など先端光源を駆使した実験を行うことで、光誘起相転移の微視的/巨視的挙動などを調べている。
