地球温暖化や資源の枯渇とリサイクル、原子力発電所の事故を契機としたエネルギーバランスの問題など、人類は様々な環境問題に直面していますが、21世紀に生きる我々が地球とどう共存していくのか、その真価が問われているといっても過言ではありません。私は、地球表層に存在するさまざまな試料について、無機元素の濃度・同位体・化学種の解析からこれらの問題にアプローチすることを研究テーマとしています。特に最近は、有害金属元素の地球表層での循環に関して、人為起源的に放出された元素の影響を定量的に理解することに興味があります。
教育内容としては、無機化学・分析化学・地球科学に関連した分野の授業を担当しています。無機化学・分析化学分野では、質量分析を主とする原子スペクトル分析法や、原子核の安定性を理解するための放射化学分野の講義を担当します。また地球科学分野では、化学的視点から地球や太陽系のさまざまな現象を理解する地球化学に関する講義を実施します。
