 健康や環境に関わる物質を調べます。調べたい物質がわずかであっても(濃度が低くても)検出できるシステムの構築を目指し、基礎科学(分子の動きや構造を光で調べます。)~産業応用(世界をリードできる新しいバイオセンシングシステムの開発や、誰もが簡単に使える高機能な光学ツールの開発です。)にわたる広い視点から研究を進めます。
 物理(光学・ナノテクノロジー)―化学(界面・分析)-生物(抗原抗体反応・医用応用)にわたる分野融合領域で研究を展開します。
