Teaching and Research Fields
近年、災害リスクを分析する技術は、未成熟ながらも進展してきている。一方で、社会的にそれらのリスク情報を活用していくための研究と実践活動は充分には進んでいない状況にある。また、自然災害に対する減災効果を高めるための空間システム・社会システムの設計思想、それらに基づく危機管理体制と支援方策についても十分には成り立っていない。自然現象による脅威と現状の都市環境・社会環境を鑑みると、個々の問題に対して効果的な対応方策を検討するとともに、それぞれの関連性を考慮した総合的な減災システムの構築、及びそれらに即した実践方法を開発することが望まれる。
上記のような問題意識に立脚して、中長期的な研究の射程として、都市・地域の空間システム・社会システムにおいて機能的な役割を果たす減災性能の指標と概念モデルの確立、及び実装可能な制度設計の構築を目指して研究活動を推進している。「都市・地域の減災性能に関する実践的アプローチを通じた方法論の構築」、「災害の復旧・復興過程と支援方策のあり方に関する研究」、「広域巨大災害に関する効果的な災害対応システムに関する研究」といった内容に特に関心がある。
