【研究テーマ】20世紀には二つの世界大戦がありました。この二つの大戦を通じて、ヨーロッパの近代市民社会は大きな危機に直面します。テクノロジーの発達と情報メディアの多様化、ナショナリズムの高まりとナチズムの台頭、経済危機と迫害……。先の見えない状況下で、この時代の人々は不安と期待のあいだで揺れながら、言葉と表現を模索していました。この二つの戦争に挟まれた時代、いわゆる戦間期ドイツの文学と思想が、わたしの主な研究対象です。例えば、ヴァルター・ベンヤミン。ユダヤ人であった彼はこの時代に、「暴力」とは何か、「翻訳」とは何か、「物語」とは何か、「複製技術」とは何か、「歴史」とは何かという根本的な問題に取り組み、珠玉のエッセイを書き残しています。こうした、今からおよそ100年前の文学や思想を読みながら、今に繋がるもの、今を照らすものを探しています。
※最近はベンヤミンの思想の研究をつづけながら、以下のテーマにも取り組んでいます。
（１）ギュンター・アンダースの「未来学」構想についての研究
（２）寓話論（イソップからG・アンダースまで）
（３）文学における動物モティーフの研究
（４）戦間期ドイツの文化現象（プラネタリウム研究）
【略歴】1985年愛媛県松山市出身。京都大学で美学・ドイツ文学を学ぶ。専門はヴァルター・ベンヤミンと近現代ドイツ語圏の文学・思想。著書に『ベンヤミンの歴史哲学――ミクロロギーと普遍史』（人文書院、2023年）、共訳書にジュビレ・クレーマー『メディア・使者・伝達作用』（晃洋書房、2014年）、シュテファン・ツヴァイク『聖伝』（幻戯書房、2020年）がある。
