民法の家族法を教育研究内容としています。民法中の家族法とは親族法、相続法を指しますが、今日家族をめぐる問題は民法のみにとどまりません。研究対象は、広く家族をめぐり問題となる、児童虐待防止法、児童福祉法、DV防止法、ハーグ子奪取条約、児童の権利に関する条約、そして家事事件手続法に関わるテーマを扱っています。また、国家と家族の関係、あるいは国家と親と子どもという三者関係から問題をとらえ、アメリカ家族法を参考にしながら、親権とはいかなる権利か、子どもの権利はどのように把握され主張されるべきなのか、という個々の課題を検討して、国家が家族へ介入する根拠と必要性についての研究を行っています。
