金融市場の変動に焦点を当てた実証研究を行っています．特に，資産価格や国際資本取引が中心的な興味の対象です．基本的に，資産価格は各国・各企業の成長率や収益率といったファンダメンタルズ要因によって決定されると考えられます．しかし，時には市場参加者の楽観/悲観的な態度やリスク認知といったファンダメンタルズ以外の要因が，裏付けのない過度な資産価格の変動を引き起こすこともあります．歴史的には金融機関の貸出行動がそのような変動を助長することもしばしば発生してきました．また，1990年代以降，国境を越える資金の貸借が急速に拡大してきました．この傾向は基本的には好ましいことだと考えられます．しかし，その結果として，国内金融機関の貸出資金だけでなく，海外からの資金の流入が上述した資産価格の変動をより大きくしてしまうという懸念も無視できないものになりました．以上のことを踏まえて，資産価格と銀行貸出，国際資本取引，リスク認知の関係を世界各国のマクロデータを利用して解き明かそうという試みを続けています．
