Profile
ライフワークとしての研究テーマは近代以降沖縄の児童文化・児童文学史研究です。沖縄学研究は今や世界的な広がりを見せている学問領域ですが，子どもの文化や文学に関する歴史的研究は，資料的な制約もあって未だ十分とは言えません。そこで，全体像を把握するには文献調査だけでなく，聞き取りや海外に散逸している資料への目配り等が必要となります。現在関心をもって取り組んでいる課題は，戦前から戦中に沖縄から海外に移民した人々の文化活動と，戦後沖縄の児童文化との関わりを明らかにすることです。教育研究のテーマは日本の児童文学および絵本の研究，子どもの教育・文化研究です。子どもの教育や文化全般に興味・関心がありますが，とりわけ子どもの言葉の発達と絵本との関わり，絵本の文化的価値について，作家・作品研究を中心に取り組んでいます。絵本は子どもの読み物と思われがちですが，古今東西のロングセラーの絵本の中には，大人の鑑賞に堪える優れた作品がたくさんあります。また，多様化の時代と言われる現在，従来の絵本の枠には収まりきらないユニークな絵本，アートとしての絵本にも注目が高まっています。絵本研究は今後，さまざまな学問分野からのアプローチによってますます深まりを増していく可能性を秘めていると思います。
