専門は英語教育学，応用言語学，異文化コミュニケーションで，特に小中高大と人が外国語である英語とどのように出会い，習得し，学び続けるのか，どうすれば英語でより良いコミュニケーションが取れるのか，どのような授業や評価が，児童生徒のやる気を高め，自信を持って学習に取り組めるようになるのかなどに興味を持って研究を続けております。また，将来小学校や中高で英語を指導できる有望な教員を養成するのみならず，小中高の先生方の研修のお手伝いや，共同研究にも取り組んでおります。
