研究テーマは、「物質における反応・機能のダイナミックスろその量子制御」で、そのための手段として世界最高性能を誇るSPring-8の放射光Ｘ線を利用する。回折・散乱法による物質の原子構造、分光法による電子構造・状態の解析によって、超伝導、磁性、誘電性、触媒などグリーンイノベーションに重要な機能発現の機構解明を目指した研究を行い、その知見に基づいて新しい物性や機能を持つ物質の発見につなげていく。
