Teaching and Research Fields

生命現象を定量的に分析することを目的とし,「光と分子の相互作用を利用した新しい測定技術やイメージング技術の開発」を軸とした研究を行っている.光を用いた計測方法は細胞や組織を傷つけることがなく,生命現象をありのままの状態で分子レベルで観察することが可能である.このような光を用いた分子分析方法は分光学と呼ばれる分野で発達してきたものであり,私は生き物を対象とした分光法を専門としている.これまでの研究で私は光を用いた神経細胞の機能分析法の開発や,光を用いた癌細胞の検出・イメージング法の開発などに取り組んできた.現在は化学物質が神経細胞の発達に及ぼす影響をリアルタイムで分析する方法の開発を行っている.また,遠紫外分光法の生物学応用の研究に取り組んでいる.この研究では水分子がどのようにして神経回路の情報処理と関わっているのかを分光学の立場から明らかにすることが目標である.これらの研究を通じて,細胞機能研究などの基礎研究から,創薬や再生医療などの応用研究,さらには実用化までをシームレスにつなげられるような生体分光学研究基盤の創出を目指す.
