私の経歴は、百貨店勤務や２つの異分野の大学院、ネパール留学、協力隊での西アフリカ地方市役所や国連プログラム勤務、厚労省研究員、社会起業、NGO事務所代表とフクザツです。一見バラバラなのですが、実は、関学の大学院以降は、子どもと女性の支援とエンパワーメントをテーマに、研究と実践を積み重ねてきました。関学学部生だったときに卒業旅行で行ったネパールのストリート・チルドレンとの出会いが、今の人生の起点となっています。多くの国では女性が子どもの世話をする役割を担っていますが、その女性たち自身が社会的に弱い立場なことが多く、子どもを支援するには女性の支援も重要です。そこで、「疫学」と「予防」や行動変容を研究し、ものづくりなどを通した女性のエンパワーメントを実践してきました。今、関わっている土のうによる道路整備事業では、女性を雇用した労働集約型インフラ整備事業と、マイクロファイナンスや頼母子講による貯蓄、そして小さな商売への支援を組み合わせて、エンパワーメントと貧困削減を試みています。みなさんと少しでも世界に笑顔を増やしていけることを願っています。
