Teaching and Research Fields
My research interests include learner autonomy, learner motivation and vocabulary acquisition. I am especially interested in how teachers seek to foster learner autonomy (both within and outside the classroom) and the effects that enhanced learner agency has on learner motivation.

Because textbooks are widely used to teach English for Academic Purposes, I am also interested in how textbook designers create tasks to teach vocabulary and how tasks from textbooks are utilized in the classroom to teach different aspects of word knowledge (beyond the level of form and meaning).
