After earning my undergraduate degree in Mathematics, I taught English in Japanese high schools for 7 years before working at the university level. I am now teaching and researching while working on my Ph.D. in Education (concentration in Applied Linguistics) at Temple University, Japan. My research to date has focused on vocabulary learning, the development of reading fluency, and the measurement of language learning through quality testing. More recently I have begun work in corpus linguistics, specifically looking at the vocabulary (both single words and multi-word units) which students are most likely to encounter throughout their English-content studies.
