Profile
主な研究分野は、言語がどのように社会の流れやイデオロギーを形成しているのかを取り扱うレトリック研究です。現在はアメリカ大統領の演説におけるメタファー分析を中心に、大統領がどのように国民にイデオロギーを伝達しているのかを認知言語学や批判的談話分析の考え方を援用しながら研究を進めています。言葉は話者や書き手の主観 (認知や感情) を通して伝達されるもので、特有の言い回しや表現に着眼することで、その人の思考の源を知るヒントになります。この考え方をスピーチのレトリック分析に応用すると、言語分析から得られる解釈は人間の認知に根ざしたものとして捉えられ、談話の中で何が語りかけられているのかを探ることにつながります。演説という談話は、単に言葉の塊ではなく、社会と人を結ぶパイプラインのような働きがあり、そこに一つの世界が構築されていますが、その世界を構成する背景情報 (フレーム) も研究対象に含めています。具体的には、関連するインタビュー、新聞記事、記者会見、自伝書なども分析対象として取り入れて、イデオロギーの形成に果たす言語の役割について考えています。
