実際の建築を多様な現実の条件のもとでいかに設計するか。そのための具体的な建築設計手法、概念的な建築設計理論について研究しています。そこで重視している点は、素晴らしい建築空間はいかに実現されるのかといったこと、個々の建築空間が、既存の街や都市とどのように関連して、パブリックな良質な社会環境を形成するかといった２つの側面です。建築は、様々な知識や技能を必要とする分野で、その設計においては、色々な領域を横断的に捉える観点とそこから得たものをまとめあげ、展開する構想力が欠かせません。こうした多面的で総合的な建築設計の能力を習得、育成することを目指します。
