ディアコニアとその課題を研究テーマとしています。
ディアコニアという概念は、キリスト教の教派によって理解が違うため、定義が困難だとされています。日本においては、おもにドイツのディアコニアの概念と実践が紹介されてきました。
私の研究分野は、主に北欧のディアコニアです。これまでは、近代ディアコニアの歴史とその背景、特にルター派のデンマー国民教会における近代ディアコニアの始まりについて研究を進めてきました。現在は、現在のデンマーク、ノルウェーをはじめとする北欧のルター派教会のディアコニアの実践とその背後にあるキリスト教思想を中心としています。
また、フィールドワークを中心に、日本におけるキリスト教の社会活動を、特に預言者的ディアコニアの視点から検討しています。
