Teaching and Research Fields
これまで、コミュニケーションを通して対人関係がいかに構築され維持されるのかを明らかにすべく研究を続けてきた。その根底には、主観的な「世界」と社会的現実（リアリティ）の成立に、言語がどのように関わっているのか（＝言語の社会的機能の解明）という問題意識がある。
今後は、高等教育の場をフィールドのひとつとしながら、ミクロ（個人の語り）‐マクロ（言説）の相互作用を分析することで、言語による社会的現実の構成過程（＝私たちにとって「言語」とはいかなる存在か）を追究する。

Title:『瀬戸内海言語図巻』の追跡調査による音声言語地図の作成と言語変容の研究
Project summary:研究開始の2017年から2019年までの3年間は、経年調査による言語地図作成のための調査を進めることである。2018年度は43地点で、調査済み地点数が計画よりもやや少なくなっている。瀬戸内島嶼部の激しい人口減のため、予定していた地点に該当者がいないことと、いろいろな機関に依頼した話者紹介も思い通りにはいかないことである。さらに、予期せぬこととして、2018年は西日本豪雨があった。調査対象地域の広い範囲で大きな被害が出て、とても調査に出かけられる状況ではなかった。さらに、自治体関係者も事後対策に追われ、話者紹介をお願いすることは無理であった。
ただ、LAS少年層話者に今年度は4名調査出来、昨年度の18名と合わせて20名を超えているのでで、個人の言語形成期以後の言語習得という目的にあうデータは予定どおりに集められた。そこで、大分県姫島の話者をケーススタディーとして、7月にリトアニアで開催される世界方言学者会議で発表し、論文にもした。
音声地図項目のデータ収録は、これまでの調査地点のほぼ全地点でできているが、まだ音声の切り取り作業をしているところで、具体的なものの作成は2020年以降の予定である。
年度末にミーティングを開催し、経年変化に関する講演と研究発表と、次年度に向けての協議を行った。
上記のように、2019年までは調査に重点を置いているので、2018年は国際学会での口頭発表1件と、論文は2編である。

Title:Development of narrative-based language research and its application to the medical field
Project summary:これまでに実施した4回のインタビュー録音（計300分）を文字化して分析を進めている。分析方法には質的分析法を採用し、ライフストーリーの研究法とSCAT（Steps for Coding and Theorization）の両方を用いている。本研究の目的は、ナラティブの分析にある。ライフストーリーの研究法は研究協力者の語りの細部まで分析が可能である。その一方で、理論化を行う際に弱点もある。ナラティブの分析では理論化あるいは一般化を行う必要はないという意見もあるが、知見を共有するにあたってはある程度理論化する必要があると考えている。
文字化したインタビューのデータを読み込むことによって、医療面接と治療、地域社会での生活の仕方などについて詳しく分かってきた。簡潔にまとめると次のようになる。
①島根県と鹿児島県の調査地の状況と生活場面の特色。地域の人たちの行動様式を学ぶこと、②医療者個人のライフストーリー。一人ひとりの患者を大事にしようとする姿勢、その姿勢を身に付けるにあたって指導者や恩師の積極的な働きかけがあったこと（教育の影響）、③地域における包括ケアシステムの現状に対する意見、④（基本的なことではあるが）共感を示すこと、主訴を正確に聞くこと、その場の「空気感」を読み取ること、患者のプライドを傷つけないこと等に気を配りながら医療行為を行っていること。このような生の声をインタビューの語りから読み取ることができた。
現在、「協働」「情報交換の場」「高齢化率」「ケアマネジャーの役割」「専門性」「訪問診療」「訪問介護」などのキーワードを手がかりとして地域医療に携わるときに必要な心構えや工夫について検討している。

Title:Development of a dental education program of the communication using an ethnography
Project summary:Communications skills are essential qualities to a medical staff. The dental student needs to learn the viewpoint of others understanding by participating in a community,in order to propose and offer suitable medical treatment and support, and build a good relation with the patient and family with various backgrounds in a broad age group.This research is to construct and carry out a practical dental education program of the communication using an ethnography.

Title:Medical communication education based on community and intercultural background of patients
Project summary:The purpose of this research is to construct an education system of the medical communication using simulated patients necessary for the community based dental care.
First, we modeled communication between patients and dental staffs from a intercultural point of view. Then, using that model, we created scenarios of patients and families with diverse cultural backgrounds and train simulated patients to play them. And we also constructed a simulation education system using these educational resources.
