界面活性剤や医薬品など身の回りの様々なモノに含まれている第４級アンモニウム塩に焦点を当てた研究を行っています。従来のアンモニウム塩合成は古典的な求核置換反応に依存していたため、合成できる構造が大きく制限されていました。この課題を解決するために、光やラジカル反応を利用したアンモニウム塩の構造修飾という独自のアプローチにより新たな構造をもつアンモニウム塩の合成に挑戦しています。また、これを応用することで従来法では困難であった第３級アミンの後期修飾法の開発も行っています。
