His research interests include the development of novel electrode materials for rechargeable (secondary) batteries, fuel cells, etc. using both experimental and computational science methods. He is also interested in the study of catalytic reaction mechanisms and automatic reaction prediction systems.

He grew up in Kawanishi, Hyogo, Japan. He received a B.Sc. (Mar. 2015) and M.Sc. (Mar. 2017) as well as a Ph.D. in engineering under Prof. Teppei Ogura from Kwansei Gakuin University, Japan in Jul. 2020. During his undergraduate and master’s studies, He conducted a three-dimensional thermal distribution analysis of direct internal reforming Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) fueled by biogas with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Also, he performed a theoretical analysis of catalytic surface activity modifications under an electric field with quantum chemical calculations and kinetic simulations as a doctoral student.

Following the finish of the doctoral course, he worked as a postdoctoral research associate in Prof. Teppei Ogura’s and Prof. Hirofumi Yoshikawa’s research groups at Kwansei Gakuin University co-currently until Oct. 2021. He conducted investigations of the surface and interface between/among metal oxides used in SOFCs with quantum chemical calculations in Prof. Ogura’s group. Also, he worked on the development of novel electrode materials for rechargeable batteries using experimental approaches such as electrochemical measurements and X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (XAFS) analysis in Prof. Yoshikawa’s group.

From Nov. 2021 to July 2023, he worked as a postdoctoral associate in Prof. William H. Green’s research group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His research in this group focused on the computational studies of solvation effects to improve automated reaction prediction systems (Reaction Mechanism Generator, RMG) for ionized species in solute/solvent systems and the experimental measurements of the kerogen pyrolysis using gas chromatography (GC) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and comparison with simulation models.

Currently, he is engaging in research on the development of high-performance energy conversion and storage devices based on molecular materials, the elucidation of phase behavior associated with redox reactions using advanced characterization techniques such as synchrotron radiation measurements, and the exploration of applications through pore structure analysis of porous materials employing data-driven materials informatics.
