一般的に植物は必要な無機養分を根から吸収して生育します。植物は自ら移動できないため、栄養が乏しい土壌や有害金属が多い土壌などの不利な環境でも効率よく養分を獲得する仕組みが必要です。その一つが、土壌微生物との共生です。私の研究では共生菌と宿主植物の間の無機養分の輸送がどのように制御されるのかを明らかにすることを目指しています。こうした植物と共生菌の協力関係の解明を通じ、持続可能な農業や環境保全への応用につなげることが最終的な目標です。
