エネルギーを効率よく利用するための材料開発に関する研究を行っています。特に、「熱」を「電気」に変換する熱電材料に注目し、理論物理学および計算物質科学に基づく手法を用いて、材料中の電子やフォノンの振る舞いをミクロな視点から解析しています。さらに、散乱機構や輸送特性の理解を通じて、高性能化を支配する本質的な要因を明らかにし、高効率なエネルギー変換材料の実現を目指しています。
