Teaching and Research Fields
I conduct research on English language teaching methodologies with a particular focus on the pragmatic use of politeness expressions, while also exploring the relationship between school grammar and practical English grammar.

In addition, I investigate “successful learners” who have attained advanced English proficiency exclusively within the Japanese educational context, with special attention to their learning processes and learning strategies.

Furthermore, I research English proficiency tests required for study abroad, including analyses of test trends, learning strategies, and instructional approaches.

  • Title:「TOEICを超える英語４技能徹底セミナー～TOEICの向こう側へ～」

    Description:明徳義塾高等学校の２年生を対象に行われた３日間の集中講座。高橋は、TOEICテストの概略と運用を意識した学習法について解説した。また、TOEICのスコアアップの技術的な面だけでなく、TOEICを足場かけ(scaffolding)して、対人関係において良好な人間関係を構築するためのことば遣いという観点からTOEICのPart 2を使って、意味論、語用論的な視点を紹介した。本講座は、田園調布大学元非常勤講師山口隆博氏とのペアティーチングによって行われた。
