身体運動を目的に応じて、適切に行うためには、正しい知識に基づいた運動処方が必要である。この運動処方の正しい知識を習得するために、不可欠なものが体力学という学問領域である。体力学はヒトの身体運動に関する広範囲の事象を研究するもので、具体的には運動生理学、スポーツバイオメカニクスなどの分野がある。これらの分野と統計学や解析学とを組み合わせ、学際的にヒトの身体運動に関する分野での研究を進めている。
