    Description of research:We applied the AdS/CFT duality in superstring theory into real-world systems such as quark-gluon plasma and condensed-matter systems. Because strongly-coupled computations are necessary to understand those systems, there was little progress in theoretical computations. However, the AdS/CFT duality claims that strongly-coupled field theories are equivalent to black holes, so computations become possible using black holes. In particular, we analyze(1) transport coefficients of causal hydrodynamics,(2) critical phenomena near second-order phase transitions,(3) and analysis of strongly-coupled superconductors.

    Description of research:We studied non-equilibrium evolution of the long-rang interacting systems, e.g. the self-gravitating N-body system, by means of the non-additive Tsallis entropy. It was shown that notion of polytrope is quite useful to describe transient evolution of the systems. And we succeeded to derive the evolution equation for polytropic index.
