英語教育を研究テーマとしているが、特に英語のリーディングの指導に関心がある。日本人学習者が英語を読む時にどのような問題点があるのか、また入力した文字情報がどのように処理されテキストの理解に至るのか、またそのようなスキルはいかに効果的に習得されるのか（自動化に至るのか）に関心がある。リーディング処理の自動化（Reading Fluency)を促す指導として、シャドーイング・音読などの音声指導の効果に注目している。
