Profile
体細胞(生殖細胞以外の体を構成する細胞)は個体の死と共に消滅しますが、生殖細胞は次世代へ遺伝情報を伝えることで生命の連続性を保証しています。本研究室では、生殖細胞の持つ生命の連続性を保証する仕組みを明らかにすることを主な目的としています。1つの細胞である受精卵はプログラムされた分裂、分化、移動を繰り返し、約60兆個、200種類の細胞を生み出し、完全な個体を形成します。受精卵に備わるこのような機能を分化全能性と呼びますが、すべての細胞の持つ遺伝情報は同一であるので、細胞の多様性は DNAの1次配列を超えた高次の制御、‘エピジェネティクス’により決定されます。本研究室では、精子・卵子の元となる始原生殖細胞によるエピゲノム制御機構の解明を通して、生殖細胞の持つ分化全能性獲得機構を分子レベルで理解することを目指しています。
