Research Outline
I am a specialist in interdisciplinary global studies from the viewpoint of political economy and human security studies. My research has examined major issues in foreign policy, environment, energy, human rights, international public health, education, political and economic development. Currently, I amconducting research on (1) the comparative economic development, politics and energy relations of East Asia; (2) global education and immigration among industrialized countries; and (3) Japan's soft power and constitutional revision debate including the role of its Self-Defense Forces.
