膨大な物財、資本、人が国境を越えて移動する今日、私たちの生活は国内のみならず海外の経済動向にも少なからず影響を受けるようになりました。人々が国境を越えて相互に依存する世界において、限りのある資源をどのように配分すべきかを考えるのが国際経済学や国際金融論の基本的視点です。私はそのような視点の下に、財・資本市場の国際統合を実証的に分析する研究等に取り組んできました。また最近は、Homo EconomicusではなくHomo Sapiensによって構成される社会・コミュニティにおいて「負債」が果たす役割や意味合い、不平等がもたらす効果等について、史学、行動心理学、進化生物学や霊長類学の視点や知見にも学びながら考察することに取り組んでいます。
