Profile
既存の文学の枠組みを疑い、秩序を打ち壊すことで表現の可能性を広げてゆくモダニズムや前衛の運動は、社会と芸術の緊張をはらんだ関係をもっとも鮮やかに示すものであり、近代、とりわけ20世紀の文学・芸術を理解するうえでは欠かせない要素のひとつである。このような問題関心から出発し、現在では、第一次世界大戦という出来事を文学史に位置づけることを課題として研究を進めている。科学技術が大量殺人をもたらしたことによって進歩に対する素朴な信仰が失われ、さらには総力戦体制の中で芸術や文学までもが「動員」され、文化が戦争の争点となるという状況が出現したことで、未来派やキュビスムを筆頭に戦前から盛り上がっていたモダニズム・前衛の運動はいかに変化したのか。歴史学や思想史の成果なども積極的に取り入れつつ、こうした観点から文学史を立体的に描き直すことを目指している。
